[image description: two digital illustrations of eda from the owl house, made to resemble a tarot card. eda is an older witch with very pale skin, pointed ears, a mane of wild gray hair, a sharp gold canine, and golden eyes. she is wearing a dark red dress with the hem ripped, grey stockings, and a golden gem resting right below her collarbone. she is holding a wooden staff aloft, with an owl carved at its top, and is climbing atop a table. the table is green and has a register, candles, a dagger, and a chalice. behind her is a tent and two bookshelves filled with various knick-knacks.
the second image is almost identical to the first, except eda’s right eye is grey, her gem is now black, and there is an extra streak of white in her hair. end description]

here’s my attack @BodzoBo for their tarot card prompt for Owl Fight 2020 on twitter!! I drew Eda as The Magician !! I tried to stick to the themes and imagery of the actual card, and I really like the way it came out 😊✨

Do you write music with the view of being politically active and delivering a message or does it just happen and the rest follows?

Friendly reminder that Hozier’s first music video, in 2013, involved him literally taking his life savings and using it to make a protest video about anti-gay actions in Chechnya. This was not a popular position at the time, to the point that damn near every interviewer asked “so, are you gay?” because they literally could not figure out why he cared so much.

Incidentally, after the first few times of saying “no, I’m straight but it’s important,” he started saying “you can think that if you want.” ALSO not a popular position at the time. Adam Lambert’s entire career had been derailed only four years before because he dared to be openly gay and sexual about it.

He literally came out swinging like Muhammad Ali and has not stopped. And he finds it odd that people find it odd! Like he was asked if he was aware of his “lesbian cult following” and seemed genuinely puzzled why he has a lesbian cult following (and, later, just a massive queer following in general) and it’s like. Honey. You loved us first. You loved us more and harder than most people were willing to. When it was unpopular to even whisper about how maybe queer people shouldn’t be seen as inhuman actually, you grabbed a megaphone and screamed. You risked not just losing a career, but never having one at all, to stand by us. You loved us. We’re just loving you back.

people are fighting over tipping culture in america on twitter and so many europeans are trying to explain why stiffing your server is praxis, actually

and it reminded me of the time I was working outside the 9/11 memorial and a european tourist came up to yell in my face at like 8am that we should all be ashamed of ourselves for charging admission to a museum of a national tragedy and when I said we depended on the money to stay open he screamed some more in my face about what a shameful disgusting government I had that wouldn’t subsidize the museum as though I personally set it up that way, and I had to eventually respond “sir, I haven’t been able to afford to see a doctor in 10 years you think I like this system???” and he just stomped away still yelling me I was a shameful person for this, the ticketing system I had no say in and also thought was outrageously expensive

anyways, just want to throw out there that if your only means of protesting an unjust system is to shit on the victims of that system then you’re not a moral crusader you’re just an asshole dressing up your assholery, pretending your cruelty is for a greater good. Tip 20% (or more!) when you eat out in america, it’s really that simple.

The whole “how the hell does this predatory creature get enough sustenance” thing that plagues fantasy and sci-fi occasionally gets so absurd it loops around into being funny, like the scene in Star Wars when the Millenium Falcon is flying through an asteroid field and gets swallowed by a worm.

I could complain about that, but I could also conclude that the supply of reckless space pilots flying into asteroid fields has been consistent enough for the past few million years for animals to evolve to prey upon them.

  • headspace-hotel

Who knows. Maybe there are enough adventuring parties roaming about the Forest of Doom to increase the available biomass at their trophic level in order to sustain tertiary consumers like giant spiderwolves...

  • headspace-hotel

“You’re going into the Catacombs? No one survives the Catacombs! Many an adventurer has tried!”

    “Uh, how many have tried?”

“Enough to form an entire ecological niche for species specialized to prey upon them!”

“Oh. That, uhh, that is a lot.”

“Right? It’s pretty fascinating actually. I’m writing my thesis on it right now.”

Radical feminism isn't recuperable if only you just stay away from the overt transphobia. The rhetoric that led to this transphobia is BAKED into radfem philosophy. The positioning of women as ontological victims & men as ontological abusers, the refusal to acknowledge the large amount of interlocking factors that create our social conditions beyond simple asab, the overidentification that acts as though all women are the same & have the same relationship to misogyny & sexism & oppression. The fucking bioessentialism. All of this leads not only to transphobia but down the line it leads to allyship with the right wing in the exact same way that we saw occur in the 80s. Radical feminism is not the fucking way!! as @cabinetmanrei said, just because liberal feminism is a failure doesn't mean there aren't other options
